Within the last three years I’ve lost both of my parents and in addition to that I was diagnosed with a terminal life threatening lung disease. All grief moments! I spent months in therapy which gave me some answers but after reading, The Unexpected Journey, I can honestly say I got all the answers I need to continue to move forward in my journey. I have had so many questions, yet I was always told not to question God. However, in this book “The Unexpected Journey”, I learned in the very first chapter that asking God questions is okay and could very well be apart of my grieving process. Bishop Hardy teaches, that my inner most thoughts and prayers to God shouldn’t be edited, and I will not be judged for thinking them. This alone has FREED ME and helped me so much. Bishop Hardy, I can not thank you enough for your transparency throughout this wonderful book. I plan to order more copies and gift them to my family because I KNOW they will be blessed tremendously by you journey just as I have been! We all have grieved the loss of a loved one. The Unexpected Journey is a source of comfort because of it’s insight that’s shared. God does not want us to grieve like the world. But He wants us to trust Him and move forward with Him. God knows exactly what it will take to get us through the process. There is a reality within this book, which is, God’s timing. His timing is not always our timing, His ways are higher than our ways. God knows how to comfort us through others if only we let Him. To think that He lost his wife suddenly to Covid after many years of marriage with children and grandchildren and then let God use his pain for others gain is truly a blessing. This book is very personal for me and my mom because we too lost my father unexpectedly. The courage that this book gives to people that's grieving and think that no one understands is beyond hopeful. The details, the personal journey with him and God is what we need in every season. Thank You Pastor Hardy for being a vessel to others even in your brokenness. Yes time heals all wounds but they can't be healed without the Lord. I recommend everyone to read this book, you will not be disappointed. 500 stars is what I give this life changing book. God Bless You Pastor Hardy! It would be great if it were over in a day but on this side of heaven it isn’t. Unfortunately, grief is the cost we pay for loving someone when God receives that person back to Himself. I can honestly say that none of those texts resonated with me and the truth of my grief experience more than Bishop Ronald Hardy's new book "The Unexpected Journey". He is a credible source of useful information, bringing not only his theology education, and ministry background to bear but more importantly his own life experience with the deep loss of his wife, who was married for 38 years. Above all, he is a truth-teller and an advocate you'll want in your grief space. This is a book I will read over and over because depending on where I am in my grief, I will be able to hear the comforting words from Bishop Hardy who know what it's like to have loved so deeply and lost so incredibly as myself.
